Our next morning in Perth, we got up early as we have been doing, before six. Had our showers, went for some coffee in the excellent cafe just downstairs (the Infinity Cafe), and met our bus, driven by the same driver as when we went to Margaret River. He drove us around the town, we stopped for a while in the spectacular King's Park, and headed off to Fremantle (that's the correct spelling).

The photo is of King's Park, with the avenue lined by Red Gum trees that are about sixty years old. You can look over the city from here:

We got back on the bus to go to Fremantle, had a look around, and decided we liked it. Where Perth is clean and modern, Fremantle is a bit messy and older; Perth seems a bit business-like, Fremantle is laid back. We decided to go back to Fremantle. In fact, we extended our time there by catching the next ferry to the one they wanted us to catch.

Darlene liked the trip back, and when we got to the Jetty, it was a quick ride back to the apartment.
I need to talk a bit about public transit here: it's terrific. There is a large Central Business District, in which all buses are free. And they have CAT buses travelling the main part of the downtown, which act as shuttles from early morning to late evening, and are also free. And there are four LRT lines going to the suburbs which go frequently and are cheap, not free. Why can't Hamilton or Toronto do this?
Enough for one day. Our next day was the trip to the Pinnacles, and it was a full-day trip.
